Athens former Public Tobacco Factory

In response to the site of the former
Public Tobacco Factory the work is
situated close to the reinforced beams
of the renovated ground floor.
It addresses the idea that tobacco is
produced solely for combustion, which
establishes the notion of fire and
thermal energy.
Since the early 1990s, the building's premises
were granted to the Hellenic Parliament to house
parts of its publications and library. In
Physics, a thermal engine describes a
transition between two distinct states
of energy. The Carnot thermal engine
describes an idealized lossless cyclical
transition, the nature of which is
considered here in spiraling forms and
ball and stick models in anodized
aluminium, car spray paint and
polyethylene. The constructed model
represents what might be the
compulsive nature of paper to be
easily ignited and burned.
